As the pandemic continues, we are more apart and at the same time, together than ever. While fear and uncertainty prevail and as people get used to the new ‘normal’ – there are subtle but important shifts taking place. Here are top 3 stories how COVID-19 has helped rediscover hope and goodness.

        1.   Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on education – Hundreds of educators around the world have been given access to free educational tools to be able to continue classes at a distance. Teachers have played a big role in the current COVID situation to ensure continuity in classes, showering love and support to their students and even using this global event to teach lessons in empathy and community building.

        2.   Remember that we mentioned the Langar tradition in a Gurudwara in our last post? In Delhi, a Masjid and a Gurudwara come together to feed workers during the COVID-19 Lockdown. According to The Caravan, A mosque and a gurudwara have come together in south Delhi’s Kalu Sarai neighbourhood to feed migrant workers driven to hunger by the COVID-19 lockdown. Every morning since 30 March, Harbans Singh and Surendar Singh, two volunteers from the Gurudwara Shri Singh Sabha in Kalu Sarai village, have been going to the nearby mosque, at 9 am. By that time, Aslam Chaudhury and a small group of people from the neighbourhood have already brought out a bag of rice from the storeroom, started cutting vegetables and sorting masalas” How AMAZING is that?

       3.   Everyday Heroes: A 51-year old auto driver in Tamil Nadu has been offering rides to patients for free.  P Jayaprakash, who has been an auto- rickshaw driver for past 25 years, first saw a patient struggling to return home as public transport or cab services have been dismissed due to the curfew and decided to start offering rides. He intends to continue offering rides to those in need until the curfew is lifted. This story was featured in the New Indian Express.
